ProveIt — Support

What ProveIt does

ProveIt is an accountability app. You set a task, and when it is due you have to prove you did it. Proof can be a photo, your location, a peer review by someone in your crew, or a simple self-check, depending on how you set the task up.

If you do not follow through, consequences you chose in advance kick in: you lose a streak, you lose a stake, your crew is told, or ProveIt restricts access to distracting apps on your phone using Apple’s Screen Time controls until you get back on track.

Frequently asked questions

How does proof work?

When a task is due, open it and tap to submit proof. For a photo task, you take a photo (or attach one from your library). The photo, the task title and any photo hint you set are sent to our AI verification step, which returns a pass or fail verdict and a short reason, usually within a few seconds.

Tips for a clean pass:

For a location task, keep ProveIt’s location permission enabled and be inside the radius you set for the place. For a peer-review task, someone in your crew confirms it.

A proof was wrongly rejected. What do I do?

Appeal it. AI verification is not perfect and we know it. When a proof is rejected, the rejection screen shows the reason and gives you an appeal option. Write a short explanation of what the photo actually shows and submit it — your appeal is sent along with the original photo for a second look, and the verdict can be overturned.

Appeal straight away rather than resubmitting a near-identical photo; a clearer explanation is usually what turns it around. If a specific task keeps getting rejected unfairly, email us with the task title and roughly when you submitted it and we will look into it.

How do I cancel my subscription?

ProveIt subscriptions (monthly and annual, each with a 1-week free trial for eligible new subscribers) are auto-renewing and are billed by Apple, not by us. Cancel them in your Apple Account settings:

Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends, or it renews. Cancelling stops the next charge — you keep paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Deleting the app or your ProveIt account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in Apple’s settings first, otherwise Apple will keep billing you.

We cannot cancel or refund a subscription for you — Apple handles both. For a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com. Full subscription terms are on the Terms of Use page.

I paid but the app still shows me as free.

Open the paywall or the You tab and use Restore purchases, and make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account that bought the subscription. If that does not fix it within a few minutes, email us with the approximate purchase date and we will sort it out.

How do I delete my account, and what gets deleted?

You can do this yourself in the app — you do not need to email us. Open the You tab. There are two different options:

Both are permanent and cannot be undone by you or by us. Work you shared with other people stays with them, with your name removed; if you own a crew, the crew carries on and another member takes it over. Cancel your subscription first — deleting the account does not cancel it.

If you cannot reach the in-app option for any reason, email us from the address on your account and we will delete it within 30 days. The full detail is in section 6 of the Privacy Policy.

How does Screen Time blocking work, and how do I turn it off?

ProveIt can restrict distracting apps using Apple’s Family Controls and Screen Time frameworks. It is entirely optional, and off until you set it up.

To set it up, go to Settings › Focus Lock in the app and grant Screen Time access when iOS asks. You then pick, in Apple’s own picker, which apps stay open and which get blocked. When you fall behind on your tasks, ProveIt asks iOS to shield the apps you chose; when you catch up, the shield lifts.

Two things worth knowing:

To turn blocking off:

Blocking is enforced by iOS, not by us, so we cannot guarantee it always applies. Do not rely on ProveIt to block anything where a failure to block would be harmful, and make sure your blocked-app selection never stops you reaching something you need for your safety, work or health.

Notifications and reminders are not arriving.

Check that notifications are allowed for ProveIt in Settings › Notifications › ProveIt, that a Focus mode or Do Not Disturb is not silencing them, and that Low Power Mode is off. Signing out of the app clears your device’s push token, so sign back in if you recently signed out.

Location tasks are not verifying.

Location is optional. For location tasks to work, allow location access for ProveIt in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › ProveIt. For detection while the app is closed, choose Always. Make sure the place you saved has a sensible radius — too tight a radius is the usual cause of a task that will not verify. You can revoke location access at any time; only location tasks stop working.

Which permissions does ProveIt ask for, and are any required?

Camera, photo library, location, notifications and Screen Time are all optional. Declining any of them leaves the rest of the app working — for example, decline camera and photos and you can still prove tasks by location, peer review or self-check. What each permission is used for is set out in the Privacy Policy.
