ProveIt — Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are the agreement between you and the developer of
ProveIt (“we”, “us”) covering ProveIt: Accountability
(bundle identifier com.nomanmakh.proveit), the ProveIt web app, and any related
services (together, the “Service”). They also serve as the end-user licence agreement
(EULA) for the iOS app.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, installing, creating an account on, or using ProveIt, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into them by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use ProveIt. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
2. What ProveIt does
ProveIt is an accountability app. You set tasks, you prove that you did them — with a photo, your location, a peer review, or a self-check — and the app applies consequences when you do not. Those consequences may include losing a streak, a stake you set for yourself, an alert to a crew you have joined, and restricting access to distracting apps on your device using Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) frameworks.
Photo proof is assessed by an automated AI verification step, which returns a pass or fail verdict and a short reason. Automated verification is not perfect. It can reject a genuine proof or accept a poor one. If a proof is wrongly rejected you can submit a written appeal in the app. We provide the Service as a self-improvement tool, not as an authoritative or auditable record of your conduct, and it should not be relied on as one.
The Service depends on your device, your network, Apple’s platform services, and third-party providers listed in the Privacy Policy. Features may change, and we may add, modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3. Your account
You need an account to use most of ProveIt. You agree to give accurate information, to keep your sign-in credentials secure, and to be responsible for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. One person, one account — do not share an account or let someone else prove tasks as you.
4. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
ProveIt offers an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks paid features. Two plans are available: a monthly plan and an annual plan. Each plan includes a 1-week free trial for eligible new subscribers.
The exact price, plan length and trial length for your country are shown on the purchase screen in the app and on the App Store product page before you confirm. Those displayed values govern; prices vary by region and may change.
Auto-renewing subscription terms.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription automatically renews at the then-current price unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal at any time in your Apple Account settings after purchase (Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your device).
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion of the free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Deleting the ProveIt app or your ProveIt account does not cancel your subscription. You must cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, not by us. We cannot issue refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple under its own policies, at reportaproblem.apple.com. Except where required by the law that applies to you, subscription fees are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partly used periods.
Price and plan changes. We may change subscription prices or what a plan includes. Where Apple requires it, a price increase will not take effect for an existing subscriber without the notice and consent Apple mandates; otherwise we will give reasonable notice, and your continued subscription after the change takes effect is your acceptance of it.
If your subscription ends, paid features stop working. Your account and your data remain, and paid features resume if you subscribe again.
5. Licence
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use ProveIt on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. We keep all rights we do not expressly grant you, including all intellectual property rights in the Service.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- submit false or manipulated proof, or use another person’s photos or location to satisfy a task;
- upload content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that depicts or encourages self-harm or violence;
- upload content you do not have the right to share, or that depicts other people without their consent;
- harass, bully, impersonate or abuse other users, including through crew posts and shared tasks;
- use the Service to break the law, or to encourage anyone else to;
- reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to defeat the Service’s security or access rules, or access data belonging to another user;
- interfere with the Service, overload it, or use it through automated means except as we expressly allow.
We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.
7. Your content
ProveIt is built around content you create: proof photos, task attachments, task and project text, appeals, and posts you share with a crew. You keep ownership of your content.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit and display your content strictly so that we can operate the Service for you — including sending a proof photo, the task title and any hint to our AI verification provider to produce a verdict, and showing your content to the specific people you shared it with. This licence exists only to run the Service. We do not sell your content, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your photos to train any model of our own.
You are responsible for what you upload, and you confirm you have the rights to share it. When you share a task or post to a crew, the people in it can see that content — think before you share. Uploaded files are readable only by people already entitled to the task they belong to, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already distributed to other users and any copies retained in routine backups until they expire.
8. Screen Time and app blocking
App blocking is optional and uses Apple’s Family Controls, Device Activity and Managed Settings frameworks. You choose which apps to restrict; iOS returns an opaque token that never leaves your device. You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings, which stops blocking entirely.
Blocking is enforced by iOS, not by us, and we cannot guarantee it will always apply — the OS, device restarts, or your own settings can affect it. Do not rely on ProveIt to block access to anything where failure to block would be harmful. You are responsible for making sure that blocking apps on your device does not prevent you from reaching something you need, including emergency services or anything required for your safety, work or health.
9. Stakes and penalties
You may attach a stake to a task — a streak, an in-app money credit, or a social consequence such as an alert to your crew. These are self-imposed accountability mechanics inside the app. In-app credits and passes have no cash value, are not currency, cannot be redeemed or exchanged for money, and may expire or be adjusted. We are not a party to any real-world wager or arrangement you make with other people off the back of the app.
10. Termination and deleting your account
You can stop using ProveIt at any time.
You can delete your account yourself, in the app. Open the You tab and use Delete your account. You will be asked to confirm it is you, and shown what is about to be deleted. This permanently deletes your profile, your tasks, projects, streaks, crew posts and every file you uploaded. It cannot be undone by you or by us, and it does not require you to email us or take any other support step. A separate Delete all my data option clears your content but keeps the account. See section 6 of the Privacy Policy for exactly what each option removes and what survives.
Cancel your subscription before you delete your account — see section 4. Deleting your account does not cancel it and Apple will keep billing you.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if it is necessary to protect other users or the Service, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why. Sections 7, 9, 11, 12, 13 and 15 survive termination.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
ProveIt is not a health, medical, fitness, financial, legal or professional service, and nothing in it is advice. Decisions about your health, training, finances or safety are yours, and you should take proper professional advice where it matters.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that AI verification will be accurate, that reminders or notifications will be delivered on time or at all, that geofencing or location detection will be accurate, or that app blocking will always work.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory consumer right you have that cannot be limited by agreement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, or missed obligations, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use the Service — including a missed reminder, a failed or wrongly rejected proof, a block that did or did not apply, or content shared with a crew.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 50.
These limits apply even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose, and they do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law — for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of the law.
14. Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for ProveIt or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for ProveIt. If ProveIt fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to ProveIt. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to ProveIt, including product liability, failure to conform to a legal requirement, or consumer protection or privacy claims. You must comply with applicable third-party terms and with the App Store Terms of Service when using ProveIt, and you represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Changes, governing law, and general
Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app. Continuing to use ProveIt after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and, if you wish, delete your account.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer of ProveIt is resident, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
Severability and waiver. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent necessary or severed, and the rest stays in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, and replace any earlier version.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, on notice to you.
